1000's of gals & families are thinking about going vegetarian for many reasons: animal rights, eliminate meats/animal products from their diets, religious reason, spiritual reasons, health reasons. You can probably get all the protein, vitamins & minerals doing so, but I would suggest doing some homework on eating right as a vegetarian, otherwise it can sometimes lead to an excessive intake of carbs, sugars etc. Any vegetarian recipes to share?

Hats off to you for trying. I understand that you want to be vegetarian, but I also think that maybe your mom is not letting you because she is concerned for your nutrition. It's hard to get all the protein needed when your vegetarian, especially today because there are no "easy" solutions for being vegetarian. For me, I have to plan far in advance of my next meal for what I am going to eat because it's not something that you can just pick-up or make in an instance. As far as a sandwich, I have to think...protein, so I try to incorporate hummus, cheese, spinach because though each is low in protein, a combo of all them in a sandwich accompanied with a glass of milk will allow me to get enough protein for that meal. I would love to hear any other ideas on how to make a quick vegetarian meal. Good luck.

ps if you like chinese or thai, you can substitute fried tofu for meat and boy it's good!

hey, look, i looked on the internet and there are not just meals but also some nice starters. You could always have vegetable soup, hot cross buns, and alot of other things of breads and soups, there is alot of bread that is used in supers like bisquits and diner rolls. Also alot of chinese foods but that is only good if you don't like chinese food, so think of things like that and you can always make them into bigger things by adding things to them or just expanding that food. Good luck with you too and also watch what you are eating, don't just eat it cause they are not meat.

Good luck veggie,

... It's hard to get all the protein needed when your vegetarian, especially today because there are no "easy" solutions for being vegetarian. ideas on how to make a quick vegetarian meal.

EASY SOLUTION - There actually is a very easy solution for getting enough protein as a vegetarian ... many cultures have done this for 1,000s of years. And it's way cheaper than animal flesh (aka meat) . Here's the easy solution. Plant protein in itself is not what's called a complete protein, but when you learn how to combine it with SPECIFIC other plant proteins ... then you have a perfect substitute for animal flesh protein.

Here's how it works:

Think of it like this, you have 4 groups of food
GROUP #1 - "Breads, Cereals, Grains"

GROUP #2 - "Legumes"

GROUP #3 - "Vegetables"

GROUP #4 - Nuts & Seed

Combine any single item in GROUP #1 to any single item in GROUP #2 or GROUP #3 or GROUP #4 & then you have a complete source guideline for protein as a Vegetarian ... & it doesn't hurt the cute little critters :-) :P

chow (pun intended  )

That's actually a really good idea,I sometimes have some Special K with strawberries anyways for breakfast but now, you can do even more.also, i was thinking last night that there is things like tacos that you could have but instead of meat, you could put something like just putting salsa onit with the rest of the toppings,or you could get vegetarian meat.Think about this and so will I.
Good luck. 8)

hey veggie,I was thinking last night, and really, you might be able to have alot of meals that involve meat, but, don't use meat. Like for hamburgers, you could always have a veggie burger, wait a seck, you could also have spaghetti,or tortallini with cheese inside instead of meat,or what i like to have is noodles with tomato sauce and some other things like mixed vegetables,it might sound kinda gross but it isn't so bad once you've tried it.also, for a snack, you can have any sort of nuts with some fruit because the nuts obsorb some of the taste and juice of the fruits so it also has a dorta fruity flavor,it's the same with the noodles and veggies,so bye veggie, try this,it's not as bad as it sounds. :P
