“Stillness is really another word for space. … You are never more essentially, more deeply, yourself than when you are still. When you are still, you are who you were before you temporarily assumed this physical and mental form called a person. You are also who you will be when the form dissolves. When you are still, you are who you are beyond your temporal existence: consciousness—unconditioned, formless, eternal” (p. 255–256).
How hard is it for you to find this stillness and be comfortable with it? Have you experienced it?

I totally want to learn to be still more! I have experienced this when I had a traumatic experience that I could not control. Maybe that's why I have to experience trauma in my life, so that I can actually experience this feelling

i have such a hard time with stillness!! trying to remain still and silent without a thought in your head is so difficult. have you ever tried just sitting and making your mind blank to quiet the ever existing noise? i think it must take practice because i haven't been able to do it yet...

i agree this can seem impossible. but with the right techniques from the right teachers what seemed impossible becomes possible.
what Masters/Saints/Prophets/Great Teachers/Enlighted Beings of the past & present have said is to wake up in the early morning hours before sunrise (yes break your sleep if you really want to experience stillness - you can go back to sleep afterwards) and focus on Glorifying God ... not being still. the hours between 2 am to 5 am is the best window for this type of meditation.
It is critical as the world around you is already still and not yet making its demands on you. once the alarm clock goes off, you will be pulled & pushed through your daily activities from one agenda to another.
In time you will become aware of this stillness you seek. It's priceless!!
