The primary cause of unhappiness is NEVER the situation, but your thoughts about it. How can we stop the negative thoughts?

I noticed I am more positive when I eat better and sleep enough and a massage doesn't hurt

There are a million ways to stop the negative thoughts, because there are at least a million better thoughts you can think about than the negative one you are in. It is just a matter of mind control that comes from discipline.
A army of men can go out and fight a war for our country without a complaint. Why? Because they are trained.
But we can sit on the coach and watch the news about these men and woman and find a million thing to complain about to cry about, and we are in the comfort of our own homes. What is the difference between them and us?
Mind control.
If we can control our thoughts our emotions will can be grounded.
I don't think we should all go to the army to do that. But some form of training like Yoga or dance, meditative waling. Anything is better than nothing.

I have a hard time wanting to control my thoughts or my mind because I want to stop controlling anything, that's my problem...control
I want to just be, I am starting to realize that if I have a thought, to let it play out but to just realize I am just wasting my time thinking this and it will manifest in some negative way in my life (attracting negativity of some sort or a bloated stomach!). I will eventually realize that I might as well think positive, it does a body good!

I think the first step to changing our negative thoughts is to be aware of them, as Tolle has said. You have to be conscious of when you are having a negative thought and then put it out of your mind and rebuke yourself for having that thought. With this training, I do believe our minds will start to stop negativity.
I wish we could just "be" as divinediva said, but unfortunately we have to work at who we are and what we are to create a better earth!

I think it is good to write a list of things that you want to accomplish that day in the morning or the night before. And then you stay focused on what it is you want, and that ultimatly makes you happy.
