The ego & gossip

Gossip seems to always be a hot topic because people are always trying not to do it. I like how Eckhart Tolle says people are addicted to it because if you have information about someone else to share, you suddenly feel superior because you know MORE than the person you share this with. It's all about the ego!

If we just remember that in the long run, it doesn't matter how much more we know than another person and finding out that one tid-bit of info on someone else will not change your life, then maybe it will be easier to stop gossiping.

Gossip. Such a funny thing. I find myself indulging in the People magazines everytime I'm at the grocery store. Is it only gossip if we are speaking from the negative mind?
Gossip means rumor. So it is not gossip if it is a hard fact. There is a lot of grey areas in this. I think that there are many ways to paint this picture. Don't you?
