When it came to her role in Into The Blue (2005) Jessica said, “I just didn't like the damsel-in-distress thing. I could relate to young girls wanting to see her take care of herself. And because I'm so good at action, I talked the writer and producer and director into throwing together a little fight sequence. It ended up taking three more weeks to shoot it. But at least I'm not tied up and asleep until my knight in shining armor comes and saves me. So I thought it was cool.” She loves roles that are physically demanding and keep her working hard, both bodily and mentally.

Once again proving her versatility, Jessica’s latest film is a psychological thriller. Awake is about Clay (Hayden Christensen), a man who must undergo heart surgery. Each year 1 in 700 people domestically experience "anesthetical awareness," a condition when anesthesia fails during surgery, leaving one completely conscious and feeling every incision, but paralyzed and incapable of doing anything about it. This is what happens to Clay and when the doctors planned his murder, little did they know he would be the “1.” Meanwhile, Clay’s new wife (Jessica Alba) is forced to struggle with her own personal demons, and make life-altering choices while the drama unfolds around both of them. Also starring Terrence Howard, Lena Olin, and Sam Robards, Awake opens Nov 30th.

For the New York premiere of Awake, Jessica wore a black lace and dot mesh mini dress with silver pumps and jewelry. Her ability to look equally as comfortable in jeans and a tee shirt as well as a cocktail dress is just one of the reasons she is a style star.
