What do you dream about?
Recently I had a dream that lapsed over several hours of the night, continuing even after I woke up and fell back asleep. That dream was about Johnny Depp and I traveling the world as pirates ... Sound strange? Not to me, this was one of the most normal dreams I’ve ever had! Little did I know that my subconscious was trying to tell me something (and no, it wasn’t that I was in love with Johnny Depp). Apparently, according to The Dreamer’s Dictionary for the 21st Century, “I Had The Strangest Dream,” by Kelly Sullivan Walden, dreams of pirates are about rebellion, breaking the rules, seeking a treasure that is buried or out of reach of your egoic desires. It may also show that you are blinded by your desires and perhaps ruthlessly willing to pursue what you want at any cost. What is it that I want? Well lately I have been planning a wedding and the more I want to do, the more money I need. So perhaps my Johnny-Depp-loving-pirate dream was about the pursuit of money that is out my reach at this particular moment. Hmm, maybe my subconscious is telling me something...
So what do you dream about? We have a sneak preview of "I Had The Strangest Dream..." which is due out in August. Kelly Sullivan Walden reveals why you’re dreaming about those crazy things you are, and the reasons may surprise you. Check our list of common strange dreams you may have recently had and see how dead-on your subconscious may be:
Falling: Dreams of falling signify a feeling of loss of control, a lack of confidence, and that you are loosing your step as a result of not having your feet firmly planted on earth. You may be overwhelmed with events in your life, or it can symbolize surrendering control to something or someone. Sound familiar?
Naked: Do you ever dream you’re naked? I think everyone has! This can mean that you have a desire for honesty. More obviously, it can also represent the fear of others knowing your private thoughts and feelings. If you uncomfortable with being naked or embarrassed, then you need to do some ego integration work, and begin the process of releasing your own judgments and criticisms. Who knew?
FedEx: Here’s a funny one – if you’ve dreamt about FedEx, it represents your desire to have a message or communication delivered quickly, with a guarantee. You should consider the message being sent and why it is so urgent.
Driving: When I was younger, I had a reoccurring dream about driving a car. Now it all makes sense... Driving symbolizes your ambition and drive to succeed. Whoever is driving is the one in control of your life. If you are driving, then you feel you are in control. If you are a passenger, it may mean that you have abdicated responsibility and are in a state of passivity or surrender.

Desperate Housewife: Kelly Sullivan Walden’s Dream Dictionary even touches on the popular ABC show “Desperate Housewives!” If you dream of being a desperate housewife, or dream about the show, denote your connection to the dark side of femininity: vindictiveness, competition, beauty used as a weapon, and victimization. I hope I don’t have any of those dreams soon!
Now that you’ve discovered the secret behind some of your dreams, find the interpretation behind them all! Next month you can pick up Kelly Sullivan Walden’s “I Had The Strangest Dream – The Dreamer’s Dictionary For the 21st Century” and read about everything from carburetors to suitcases!
