Learn How to Make the Most Out of Your Shower Everyday!

Taking a shower may seem just like another part of your everyday routine, but did you know there are certain things you can do to improve your health while sudsing up? If you’ve ever been to a spa with a Vichy shower or a hydrotherapy tub, you’ve probably already experienced how powerful the simple act of washing your skin can be. Changing the temperature, adding essential oils to the tub, and soaking up some steam from the shower are just a few ways to power up your showering routine. Here are some tips for creating an amazing shower experience each and every day:

 

HOW TO TAKE A POWER SHOWER

1. Steam things up! Open up your pores and clear out toxins while you shower by placing a rolled up towel at the base of your bathroom door. This will trap in the heat from the hot shower and keep moisture circulating in the air. Within a few minutes, your pores will begin to open up and you’ll leave the shower glowing.


2. Turn up the heat gradually.
Start at a comfortable temperature, and then slowly start to turn up the heat. Begin your full-body exfoliation at each interval. Start with a loofah buffing during the more comfortable temperatures, and then add a moisturizing gel or scrub to the mix as you turn up the heat.


3. Enjoy a cool blast. When the exfoliation process is complete, rinse off with cooler water – preferably very cold – and your body temperature will shift immediately. This is an important step that will leave you feeling very invigorated and refreshed.


4. Warm up.
Slowly turn up the heat again to warm up your skin, and rinse off any remaining oils or shower gel. At this stage, you can start washing your hair. Lather up with a clarifying shampoo and follow up with a conditioner, all under warm water.


5. Finish with a cool rinse. A cool rinse will help close up your pores and strengthen your hair after the hot shower. This is an important step for regulating your body temperature, and will also help you feel more refreshed when you step out of the bathroom.

AFTER SHOWER

Use a plush towel to dry up and wipe soak up any excess water in your hair, and you’ll be ready for the final step – moisturizing. Using a thick, emollient-rich cream or moisturizer is an amazing treat for your skin after your power shower because your skin is especially responsive to soaking up any skincare products at this time. Apply generous amounts of moisturizer to your skin, and pay special attention to your knees, elbows and other rough patches. Giving yourself a mini-massage as you apply the cream or lotion will also help improve circulation and keep your skin looking resilient and smooth.


You can enjoy a spa-like experience at home with some simple tweaks to your usual shower routine. Work through each of these steps next time you jump into the shower so you can leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated from inside out!
