ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTIONBe Part of The Electronic Music Revolution NOW!
Electronic dance music culture is enjoying a vibrant upswing and is conquering ear after ear all around the United States.Unlike acoustic piano music or even rock and roll, electronic music sounds best and is most fully experienced on a professional sound system. This is not the music you listen to in headphones alone on your couch, but rather music you live to as you interact with your friends on the dance floor. Electronic music promotes community. ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTION: AN EXCHANGE OF ENERGY At a traditional rock show, one is often met with scowls, snarls, and tougher-than-thou attitudes, which seem to go all too well with the black leather and grommets. There is a distinct division between the performer and the audience; you are there to see a show, clap and leave. With electronic music, although there is a DJ and often a stage, the division between performer and audience is much blurrier. The crowd (aka YOU) is a much bigger contributor to the music experience. The DJ feeds off the energy in the room and adjusts his or her set to the needs and desires of the dance floor. The entire experience is much more circular and communal, and instead of meeting with hard attitudes, you are met with open arms, smiles, and hugs. ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTION: DANCE DANCE DANCE And then there is the dancing. Dancing is good for your body, mind and spirit. For hundreds of thousands of years, all humans danced around campfires to drums on the open plains of the savannah. We danced to celebrate the happy times in life, to express desires, to tell stories and to have fun. It is only recently in human existence that we relegated dancing to high school proms and ballet stages. But dancing is a fundamental characteristic of human existence. It is good for your soul. And just in case you needed more encouragement to find a dance floor near you, consider this: vigorous dancing burns 100 calories every ten minutes. Look at any techno crowd in America, and the abundance of skinny behinds will be enough to convince you of the efficacy of this workout. ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTION: THE SCENE You will want to look your best on the dance floor too, as almost every electronic music event has a staggering number of guys. You will find not just run-of-the-mill macho types, but rather artsy, stylish guys who love to dance! Males outnumber females at almost every electronic music event, which is bad for them but good for us! Attending dance shows exposes you to a large number of people as well as gives you insight on the cutting edge of fashion and street arts; dark warehouse parties are where style is born. ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTION: OUTDOOR MUSIC FESTIVALS All of this community-based fun leads to one of the best facets of the underground electronic music scene: outdoor festivals. While camping isn’t for everyone, art is, and all throughout the summer months outdoor festivals celebrating music, visual arts, sustainable actions and a conscious lifestyle take place all over the United States, particularly on the West Coast. It takes a little effort to find them and a lot of planning to go, but that is the point- everyone who ends up at these outdoor festivals really wants to be there. ELECTRONIC MUSIC REVOLUTION: EXPRESS YOURSELF The electronic music community is growing and gaining steam as more and more young people realize that the community they want to be a part of is defined by music and art. Disillusioned with mainstream mass consumer culture, many Americans are choosing a life centered on creative self-expression as opposed to Britney’s hairstyle or Lindsay’s new tattoo, and finding life in the counterculture much more satisfying than any big screen TV or Big Mac ever could be. Whether you find yourself drawn to deep techno, hype bass dubstep or thick glitch hop, electronic music is the sound of tomorrow and provides a healthy escape from the monotony of daily life. From club parties to desert festivals, there is a home for everyone in the international electronic music community, and that includes you. Find your place in the revolution now.
