We have all envied (at one time or another) that face, that body, and that fabulous career! Well, while we may not be able to have her bank account or natural genetics, we can certainly create sexy cat eyes like Tyra’s!
GET CAT EYES LIKE TYRA BANKS
Step 1: Apply a light neutral base and highlight color, like MAC Eyeshadow in Grain, all over the eyelids using a natural hair blending brush, like Benefit Cosmetics Fluff Brush. On the lid of the eye, just below the crease (on the ball of the eye - where the eye protrudes), apply a healthy coat of a deeper shimmery bronze color, like MAC Eye Shadow in Mulch. Using a smaller shadow brush, like Kevyn Aucoin’s Small Eyeshadow Brush, apply color precisely on the lid, taking the color lightly under the eyes as well which will give the eye balance and add a more dramatic feel.
Step 2: When applying the crease color, take your time and try to be somewhat soft handed. Apply a dark charcoal color, like MAC Eyeshadow in Carbon, to the outside edges of the eye to create your smoky crease. Use a natural hair crease brush, like GloMinerals Crease Brush, to upsweep the color almost to the edge of the brows a little at a time until you get your desired color and depth. Make sure you blend the color in an upwards motion to create that elongated cat eye effect. You want the eyes to look smooth, even, and blended.
Step 3: To create that dark and sultry eyeliner, use a black gel liner, like the Gel Liner from Seraph Cosmetics, as it applies easier and looks much smoother than the liquid or pencil kind. Using a small angle brush, like Jane Iredale’s Angle Brush, deposit the product onto the top eyelid as close to the lash line as possible and glide the liner across your top lid starting thin at the inside of the eye while increasingly thickening the line and angling it upwards toward the eye brow, as you slide toward the outer end of the eye. This will again help create that cat's eye effect. Then apply a black pencil liner, like Two Faced Liquid Lava Eye Liner Pencil in Extreme Black, on the inside rim of the eye to intensify that smoky look.
