If you  want to make your smoothies that much more healthy, you can add any of the following to the blender for an extra nutritious punch:

  • ½ cup soft tofu to add protein and create a creamier texture

  • 1-2 tablespoons of flaxseed to add some Omega-3s to the mix

  • Dark cocoa powder for a boost of antioxidants

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or almonds for some extra healthy fats and protein

  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter for a protein boost

You can find an abundance of fresh fruits and natural sweeteners like honey at your local Farmer’s Market. Don’t be afraid to venture to the market on the weekend to round up some tasty, in-season fruits for your unique smoothie creation!
