QUEEN LATIFAH RED CARPET MAKEUP
QUEEN LATIFAH MAKEUP: Skin
To get Queen Latifah’s smooth as silk skin, you must cleanse and moisturize day and night religiously. Use a cleanser and moisturizer combo that are suited to your skin type (oily, dry, sensitive, etc.). The all natural skincare line, Carley’s Clear and Smooth, is a great line for every skin type and it’s very affordable. Apply your moisturizer immediately after cleansing, while your skin is still damp to soak up all the nutrients while your pores are still open.
Use a powder blush in a peachy bronze color, like Nars Highlighting Bronzer/Blush Duo, just on the apples of the cheeks to give a natural glow. Apply color a little at a time with a natural hair blush brush, like ModelCo Blush Brush 05.
Step 1: This look is very smoky and dark; therefore you can be much heavier handed with your application. First apply a light neutral base and highlight color, like MAC Eyeshadow in Grain, all over the eyelids using a natural hair blending brush, like Benefit Cosmetics Fluff Brush.
Step 2: On the lid (or ball) of the eye, just below the crease where the eye protrudes, apply a deep coat of a black opaque eye shadow, like MAC Shadow in Carbon. Use a smaller, more compact, shadow brush, like Kevyn Aucoin’s Small Eyeshadow Brush, to apply color.
Step 3: Once you have applied your dark lid color, blend using the same color outwards toward the ears, elongating the eye shape. Side sweep the dark color outwards using a larger crease brush, like GloMinerals Crease Brush, to create a smokier effect at the ends of the eyes. Apply a little at a time until you get your desired color and depth. Don’t be afraid to really put on that color to get Queen Latifah’s dark and exotic eyes.
To create that natural brow, use a soft pencil, like Benefit Instant Brow Pencil, that closely matches your hair color. Fill in brows lightly and accentuate the arch a bit to shape the eye. Trace the natural curves of the brow and then blend with a brow comb to smooth the lines.
Apply a shiny, peachy bronze color, like Queen Collection Lip Gloss (yet another beautiful creation by hers truly!) in Caribbean Coral generously to the lips. If you like a really full, glossy lip, apply The Hollywood Prescription Lip Serum on top of your lip color. It’s clear and glistening and will also promote some plumping while you are out on the town.
