Green Tea - What you need to know!
Hey- get this: Recent British experts have dubbed green tea the trendy drink of choice for young women who live there, based on a 50% increase in green tea sales in the last two years.
Smart, smart women, those Brits! Certainly there is no escaping the green tea buzz these days. Magazine articles, television news shows, even AOL's "Welcome" screen has put green tea in the forefront. Never before has something so old been so new, and it's good- it's all good.
A simple google of "green tea" nets you an almost ridiculous amount of health information. The science behind green tea is there, and let me tell you, it's amazing. There are studies by just about every major medical facility, university hospital and the American Cancer Society, just to name a few. Ladies, this is serious stuff.
The health benefits are staggering. Green tea is a very, very powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants fight the free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals (bear with me here) are disease-causing particles and are inescapable- we get them from the air we breathe, the food we eat, even the exercise we get. The polyphenols in green tea are very effective in fighting them. There are mountains of studies on the effects of drinking green tea as a disease preventative and immune system strengthener.
Green tea has also been shown to aid in skin cell rejuvenation. Adding green tea to a skin care line is a great idea, but studies show we still need to consume it. It is a natural blood thinner and is excellent for cardiovascular health as well.
On a more shallow note, green tea also helps with weight loss. (Now I've got your attention!) It is a thermogenic, which means it increases your metabolism naturally. That's reason enough for me.
Convinced yet about Green Tea?
Now I know what you're going to say. You just don't like green tea. It has caffeine. You don't have time to steep a bag for five or ten minutes. You're busy, I get it. You just like to grab your water bottle and go. Besides, experts say we have to drink 8-10 cups of the stuff to get all those polyphenols that we need. Yeah, right. There goes that idea...
Well divas, I have found the golden ticket! Pure Inventions makes a 100% natural green tea extract in liquid form that you just add to your water bottle. According to founders Lynne Gerhards and Lori Mulligan, both certified clinical nutritionists, the extract is caffeine-free, sugar-free, artificial sweetener-free and calorie-free. It's easy, convenient, and all six flavors are absolutely delicious. One dropper full contains as many polyphenols as you would get in 15 cups of regularly brewed green tea from a tea bag! Yikes!
(flavors: coconut, tropical, rasberry, peach, vanilla, green tea)
It's really the only way to go. I have to think that the only reason everyone isn't drinking this stuff is because they just don't know about it.
So, be trendy. Be stylish. But above all, be smart. Throw a bottle of Pure Inventions green tea extract in your Marc Jacobs and call it a day.
Call it a great day!
