Learn How to Recreate Sarah Jessica Parker's Glamorous Look!
Sarah Jessica Parker, aka SJP, is not only the world’s most famous fashion icon, but a trail blazing beauty icon as well. She will always be known for her ever changing hairstyles and fearlessness when it comes to fashion and beauty. Here is how you can become fearless with your makeup look, just like SJP.
HOW TO GET SARAH JESSICA PARKER’S LOOK
SARAH JESSICA PARKER'S SKIN
When trying to achieve SJP’s polished and perfect look, your first step is always skincare. Make sure you prep your skin for makeup by cleansing and moisturizing your face. Also, combat those irritating puffy eyes by applying cold cucumber slices directly over the eyes for 5 – 10 minutes. If you’re low on produce that day, then cold damp teabags are a great alternative. Now, if you don’t have time for any of these natural remedies, then just apply a hydrating eye cream, like Jurlique Biodynamic Beauty Eye Cream, sparingly around the entire eye area.
SARAH JESSICA PARKER'S FOUNDATION
Right after moisturizing, apply a light layer of cream or liquid concealer, such as MAC Select Cover Up under the eyes and on the face where needed (around nose, mouth, chin, etc).
Smooth out with clean fingertips or a foundation brush, like Colorescience "Creme De La Creme" Foundation Brush. If you must use a powder to set your concealer, then use it in moderation. Powder tends to sit in the lines of the eye and accentuate any imperfections. T. LeClerc and Estee Lauder make fantastic sheer pressed powders to set foundation and give a natural, flawless finish.
Powder blush is probably the most popular and easy to apply. It's great for any skin type and your color options are pretty much endless. Any powder blush in a bright rosy pink color will surely do the job and will also help your skin stay matte and fresh. Nars has an amazing line of colorful blushes to choose from. And definitely use a fluffy natural hair brush to apply the powder to the apples of the cheeks. Herbs of Grace has a fantastic natural hair blush brush. Your fabulous cheeks will look as smooth as Sarah Jessica’s.
On the lid of the eye, just below the crease (on the ball of the eye- where the eye protrudes), apply a healthy coat of a deeper (but still neutral) plumy color, like MAC Eye Shadow in Haux.
Using a smaller shadow brush, like Kevyn Aucoin’s Small Eyeshadow Brush, apply color precisely on the lid, taking the color lightly under the eyes as well with the same brush. This will give the eye balance and add a little drama.
When applying the crease color, be patient and soft handed. Apply a dark shimmery eggplant color, like MAC Eyeshadow in Nocturnelle, to the outside edges of the eye to create your smoky crease.
Upsweep the color almost to the edge of the brows using a natural hair crease brush like GloMinerals version to get the best application. Apply a little at a time until you get your desired color and depth. Make sure you blend the color in an upwards motion to create SJP’s elongated “cat eyes” effect. You want the eyes to look smooth and even, not untidy and chaotic.
To create SJP’s dark and sultry eyeliner, you must invest in a black gel liner, like Seraph Cosmetics Gel Liner in Black. It not only applies easier but it looks much smoother than the liquid or pencil kind.
Using a small angle brush, like Jane Iredale’s Angle Brush, deposit the product onto the top eyelid as close to the lash line as possible.
Glide the liner across your top lid starting thin at the inside of the eye and increasingly thickening the line and angling it upwards as you slide toward the other end of the eye. This will again create SJP’s elongated “cat eyes” effect.
Fill in your brows with a soft pencil that matches as closely as you can get to your hair color. Apply lightly to create fullness and accentuate the arch. Use a brow comb to smooth and blend color like Benefit Instant Brow Pencil; it is color and comb all in one.
