KRISTIN KREUK - SKIN

Step #1:  A wise person once told me that your makeup only looks as good as the skin underneath and I live by that rule! So make sure you cleanse your skin thoroughly, day and night, with a facial cleanser that is suited to your skin type.  If your skin is dry, try Pevonia Sevactive Dry Skin Cleanser.  If you have sensitive skin, Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser is a top choice.  For oilier or combination skin, try a deep cleaning face wash such as Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser.

Step #2: Immediately after cleansing, while your skin is still damp, apply a dewy moisturizer that instantly brightens the skin and creates a glow.   Clean & Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer is a fantastic and affordable option

KRISTIN KREUK - FOUNDATION

Step #1: Apply foundation promptly so that the fresh moisturizer provides a nice slip for easy application.  Use your clean fingers or a foundation brush to apply a sheer coat of a light to medium coverage foundation.  Use only where needed (under eyes, around nose and mouth, etc.) as if it was a concealer. Products such as Babor Refining Oil-Free Foundation also have anti-aging properties like light-diffusing pigments and natural UVA protection.  Make sure you use a foundation that matches your skin tone almost, if not, exactly.

Step #2:  Apply a sheer oil-free pressed powder like, Estee Lauder AeroMatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder to set foundation and give a natural, flawless finish. Use a fluffy powder brush such as Jane Iredale’s Chisel Powder Brush for the best results.  But also carry the compact with sponge in your purse for touch ups.

KRISTIN KREUK - CHEEKS

With a similar natural hair powder brush, apply a neutral peachy powder blush to the balls of the cheeks (smile and the balls will appear.)  Use something that has a bit of a glow but is not too shimmery. Nars has an excellent powder blush line.  Buff the color into the cheeks using a stippling or pressing motion so that the color will better adhere.  If you are not sure how much to use, always remember that less is more!

KRISTIN KREUK - EYES

Step #1:  Apply a shadow primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the eyelids to prep the eyes for color application and keep your shadow on all night long.  Using a large natural hair lid brush apply a neutral champagne colored base and highlight such as MAC Eye Shadow in grain, all over the lid.  Mac also has a fantastic all purpose eye shadow brush line. 

Step #2: On the ball of the eye (where the eye protrudes), apply a deeper shadow in a rusty bronze color. MAC shadow in amber lights is a perfect shimmery bronze.  Use a smaller shadow brush and apply color precisely on the lid, taking the color lightly under the eyes as well with the same brush.  This will give the eye balance and add a little drama.

Step #3: Black eye liner and mascara are a must for this look.  Use a soft pencil liner likeTwo Faced Liquid Lava Eye Liner Pencil in extreme black to create an intense smoky eye.  Apply lightly at first and darken as desired.  Apply color as close to lash line as possible on the top and bottom lashes and blend upwards at the end of eye with a natural hair angle brush to create a sultry cat’s eye.  Finish with at least two coats of lengthening and thickening mascara like Smashbox Bionic Mascara in jet black.

Step #4:  Fill in your brows with a soft pencil that matches your hair color.  Apply lightly using soft, even strokes to create fullness and a more pronounced arch. Use a brow comb to smooth and blend color. Benefit Instant Brow Pencil is color and comb all in one.
