GET BRITTANY SNOW'S PINNED BACK CURLS
This Flirtatious Hairstyle is a Great Look for any Holiday Party!
Looking for a beautiful hair style for the holidays? Pinned-back curls like Hairspray actress Brittany Snow wore recently are perfect for the holiday season. Follow these simple tips to get Brittany’s holiday hair style with a bit of a retro feel.
Step 1: Create Smooth, Shiny Curls
This style starts with clean, dry hair. Work a shaping cream through dry hair from about 2 inches below roots to the tips. We like Kenra’s Platinum Shaping Cream because it adds a bit of shine to hair. Avoid the root area with any hair product (except for volumizing products) so that you don’t get a case of the ‘greasies.’ Then, using a 1 ¼” barrel curling iron like one from Hot Tools, curl sections of hair both vertically and away from your face. Pin each curled section with a clip and let cool for about 20 minutes before removing clips.
Step 2: Set the Style
The next step would then be to remove the hair from the clips after it has cooled. Pinning your curls and allowing them to cool this way really sets the style so that it will last throughout the day (or night). You can then style your bangs the same way, but without pinning them. Your bangs will blend right into the rest of the hair style. Next, spray a texturizing spray all over the curls to give them a piecey texture. Try Jonathan Product Spray Dirt because it gives the perfect amount of texture, just like next-day hair.
Step 3: Pin Curls Back
Finally, pin one side of your hair back, preferably the side that your bangs do not lay on. Do this by tucking the hair on that side deep behind your ear and then pin with criss-crossed bobby pins or a festive hair clip. Spray the entire coif with a medium hold hairspray like Suave Extra Hold Unscented Aerosol Hair Spray to keep things where they belong.
This pinned-back curl hair style is a beautifully understated holiday look. It is reminiscent of old Hollywood, yet gives you a contemporary flair. Wear it to your office holiday party, on Christmas Eve or for New Years. It works well with both casual and formal attire.
