Name: Death Cab For Cutie – Benjamin Gibbard (vocals and guitar), Chris Walla (guitar and production), Nicholas Harmer (bass), Jason McGerr (drums) Birthdates:
This “cutie” indie rock-alternative band hails from Seattle, Washington and has had us rocking out to their music since 1997. They started out as a highly popular independent rock band until they got signed to Atlantic Records in 2004, where they’ve released chart topping hits like, “Soul Meets Body,” “Transatlanticism,” and “Cath.” Their musical style and sound can be described as mellow and subtle, to hyper and abrasive.
The boys of Death Cab for Cutie live by a distinct slogan: “Think globally and act locally.” They support the children and schools in their home state of Washington and perform shows to support their political causes. DCFC is also involved in PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), where they spread the word about animal cruelty and educate the community about the vegetarian lifestyle. Bass guitarist Nick Harmer is a huge advocate of education and has even volunteered his time to teach a class at 826 Valencia Writing Center; their mission is to help children ages 6-18 with their writing skills and keep their educators excited about their writing. “[My] charitable time is in the world of music [and] the world of teaching and education…Because we’re able to do what we love and make our livings doing it, it is my duty to give back.” - Jason McGerr
