Learn How to Put a Contemporary “Twist” on a Retro Hairstyle!
Actress Eva Longoria-Parker channeled Audrey Hepburn recently with her red carpet hairdo. Adding side-swept bangs created a modernized version of Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s classic hairstyle. Show off this modern, yet classic style at work or play, or preferably at an upcoming party. You’ll look as iconic as Audrey Hepburn, but with a contemporary twist. Learn how to create Eva Longoria-Parker’s hairdo with our step-by-step instructions below:
GET EVA’S HAIRSTYLE: IF YOU HAVE LONG HAIR
This hairstyle works perfectly with both long and short hair. It is very versatile, allowing you to give it your own flair if you wish. If you have long hair:
To begin, tease your top strands of hair, as well as the hair around your crown to create lift. Tease your hair section by section so that the hair doesn’t end up looking like a rat’s nest. Use hairspray for extra hold and heighth.
Next, pull all of your hair to the back of your head into a ponytail, and then twist that ponytail around and pull it up and pin it by criss-crossing bobby pins on each side (hide the pins under your hair). You can leave the ends of your hair out for a fun and funkier version of this hairdo, or you can tuck and twist them into the updo.
Then, sweep your bangs to the side and use more texturizing paste on the ends of your bangs for the same look plus a bit of hold. Spray with hairspray to hold in place.
GET EVA’S HAIRSTYLE: IF YOU HAVE SHORT HAIR
If you have short hair, you’ll need to modify this style a bit:
To begin, tease your top strands of hair, as well as the hair around your crown to create lift. Tease your hair section by section so that the hair doesn’t end up looking like a rat’s nest.
Then, pull as much hair as you can back and away from your face, but leave your bangs and the teased portion of your hair out. Pin strands of hair back with bobby pins to keep them in place.
Arrange your teased hair like Eva’s so that it appears that those strands are pulled back as well. Sweep your bangs to the side and spray a hairspray over your entire style to keep it in place. Try one like Samy Fat Hair "0" Calories Amplifying Hair Spray, which will give you volume and hold.
