Check Out Our Tips on How to Create a Quick Cinematic Costume!
QUICK & EASY CELEBRITY COSTUMES
Halloween is practically here and if you don’t have a costume yet, then you need to get one fast! If you’re on a budget or were just invited to a last-minute Halloween party, then we have some fun ideas to pull together a quick costume. This year our favorite ideas are being pulled from some of Hollywood’s leading ladies. We have five great films with five distinct looks, and each one is perfect for a fabulous costume.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME #1: HOLLY GOLIGHTLY
No woman was ever as stylish as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. To pull together the perfect Holly Golightly costume all you need is a long black dress, from your own closet or borrowed. If you still need a dress for an upcoming school dance, then this will give you the perfect opportunity to wear a dress twice (therefore justifying the purchase!). A tall tiara for your hair and a triple strand of costume pearls will add the necessary sparkle. Don't forget to top it all off with black satin opera gloves. To truly copy the look from the film, also add a pair of black Wayfarer style sunglasses. The lovely part of this costume is that friends and family probably own most of these items, so hop on the phone and start borrowing!
HALLOWEEN COSTUME #2: CRUELLA DE VIL
Glenn Close truly embodied the character of Cruella De Vil, and so can you. The first thing to take care of is the hair. If you can’t temporarily double-color your hair black and white, then I suggest picking up a cheap Cruella wig. Next, raid your closet for a black dress or pencil skirt and red heels. Then add in something with faux fur, whether it’s a coat or just a jacket with trim, or a fur stole. Keep your color palette to black, white, and red and the whole costume will be perfect. For a finishing touch, throw on a pair of red leather gloves.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME #3: LARA CROFT, TOMB RAIDER
When it comes to kicking butt, and doing it in short shorts, there is no other like Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, Tomb Raider. The Lara Croft look is easy; all you need is a white, gray, or black high tank top, a pair of brown or black shorts and mid-high black flat boots. Throw on a belt and head to a Halloween store for the side gun holders with leg straps, the only thing you will need to purchase. Finally, french braid your hair, and viola!, you're done!
HALLOWEEN COSTUME #4: MIA WALLACE
Pulp Fiction is a cult classic, and if you’ve seen it then I probably don’t have to over-explain the required outfit. If you haven't seen the movie, then I will lay out the necessities. Start with a long white button-down shirt and a pair of black capris; two things that are easy to acquire from the closet, or at Wal-Mart or Target. Add in a pair of black ballet flats and the classic black banged wig and you’ll be a close second to Uma Thurman.
HALLOWEEN COSTUME #5: JUNO McGUFF
Our favorite of all the last-minute costumes is definitely Juno. The look, which is so iconic now from the movie poster, is easy to throw together from items in your own closet. An orange or other bright colored tank worn with a short pleated skirt over jeans and zip-up hoodie and sneakers. Stuff your stomach and wear your hair in a ponytail. What could be simpler, or more comfortable?!
