BLOW DRY STEP #1: TOWEL DRY HAIR
To create the perfect blowout, towel-dry your hair and try to get as much water out as you can by either blotting with the towel or wrapping it in the towel for five minutes. This will allow your hair to shape easily and cut down on blow-drying time. Then add a good leave-in conditioner, such as L’Oreal Paris Studio Line Heat Seeker Straightening Cream, and comb through to ensure it's evenly distributed. Next, rough dry your hair to begin the drying process by blasting it with the blow dryer randomly for about a minute.
BLOW DRY STEP #2: DIVIDE AND CONQUERNow, section the hair into manageable amounts by splitting hair into four sections, one on each side of the head and two at the back. Clip up the sections that you will blow dry last. | ![]() |
BLOW DRY STEP #3: BOTTOMS UP
Select the unclipped section and, using a thick round brush, begin drying at the roots, gently brushing through the hair while blow drying. Pull the brush through the underside of your hair so that you expose it directly to the heat of the dryer. Pull hair away from your head, stretching and straightening as you go. Once the underside is mostly dry, switch to the top of the hair. Repeat with the other sections.
BLOW DRY STEP #4: COOL IT DOWN
Switch to a paddle brush in the final minutes of your blow-dry if you'd like straight ends. Finish off with a cool blast of air using the dryer's cool button. The cold air locks the style in place for the day.
BLOW DRY STEP #5: FINISH THE STYLE
Add some styling products such as serums, creams or waxes. I swear by John Frieda Frizz-Ease hair serum. I have tried so many other products but I always come back to it. If it's a big night out, a quick blast of hairspray will not only keep your style in place but also prevent the hair from humidity and frizz. Try Paul Mitchell Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray.
