The late summer months are the ideal time to spend more time outdoors, bask in the sunshine and work up that tan for the long winter ahead. Summer is a great time to take your workout routine into high gear, and there are dozens of exercise you can do outdoors as you take in the fresh air and enjoy those extra hours of sunshine. With fun activities like water sports or jogging, most of the outdoor activities won’t feel like a workout at all. OUTDOOR EXERCISE #1: FRISBEE GOLF
Round up a few friends for a fun afternoon of Frisbee golf, an easy game to learn and master as you head out to the neighborhood park. Frisbee golf is a competitive game that will keep you running and sprinting for hours on end. It’s an easy calorie-burner that will increase your heart rate and give your arms and legs a great workout. Just set up the course in your park or backyard and let the good times roll!
OUTDOOR EXERCISE #2: JOG
Make your way outside for an early-morning jog or take in the summer sunset with a quick run and you’ll easily squeeze in a heart-healthy workout to your day. Jogging is a simple way to increase your heart rate, boost circulation and challenge some of the key muscle groups. If you’re not up for a heart-pumping workout, there are still plenty of ways to stretch and strengthen your muscles with a few poolside exercises. Pilates or yoga done on the pool deck can give you a chance to take in fresh air and perform key moves from a fresh perspective. Round up the gang for a water sport competition! Water sports are a great addition to any pool party and can get everyone involved in a fun workout. Nothing beats a great bike ride around the park or through your neighborhood biking trail, and biking is an excellent calorie-burning activity as well. Just make sure you’re well prepared with a helmet and plenty of water, and then hit the trail for a heart-pumping workout as you take in the great outdoors.
