Untitled Document NOTABLE NEW MUSIC FOR AUGUST 2008 Get your Headphones On; Here Are the Hot New Album Releases for August! | Can't quite decide what new music you should spend your money on? Well, worry no longer. Here are five new music releases to carry you through the month of August. New Album #1: Jonas Brothers A Little Bit Longer (August 12) Hot off the heels of Camp Rock and their blockbuster tour with Miley Cyrus, the brothers Jonas try to strike while the iron is hot. Their new release, A Little Bit Longer, is full of energy and youth and will not disappoint dedicated Jonas Brothers fans. For those who aren't dedicated fans, check out A Little Bit Longer if you like Fall Out Boy or Panic at the Disco. | | New Album #2: Conor Oberst Conor Oberst (August 5) Oberst, of Bright Eyes fame, goes solo (kind of) with his brand of smart indie alt-country. Recorded over the course of a month in Mexico, Oberst and his Mystic Valley Band create a strong self-titled album from beginning to end. "Cape Canaveral" gives this new release a meditative start, but the album is not a downer by any means.
| | New Album #3: Solange Knowles Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams (August 26) Question: What would The Supremes sound like in 2008? Answer:Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams. This is not a knock against Solange Knowles or her talent, merely a frame of reference for appreciation. With the help of Pharell and other collaborators, Knowles' new release is a precise blend of R&B from decades past and present.
| | New Album #4: The Faint Fasciinatiion (August 5) The Faint offer a terse dance-rock album on their new release, Fasciinatiion. This is the first album on the band's own blank.wav record label and represents what happens when a band gets control of the total record-making process. Pick up Fasciinatiion if you are a fan of The Bravery or The Killers. | | New Album #5: David Byrne and Brian Eno Everything That Happens Will Happen Today (August 18) Veteran musicians, David Byrne and Brian Eno, whose last collaboration was 1981's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, reunite for this new release. David Byrne describes the music Eno wrote for the album as "sort of folk-electronic-gospel." His contribution was to match that feeling lyrically. The result is Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, a positive and hopeful album, both lyrically and musically. | | More Celebrity & Entertainment News! | | | | | Also Try... | | | | | | Article Written By: Bobby Taylor.
