Learn How to Find the Right Swimsuit to Flatter Your Body Type
Well, it’s swimsuit season ladies, and let’s face it, many of us dread this time of year. Some of us start dieting and some start going to the gym to lose those unwanted pounds we put on during the winter months. While eating healthy and exercising is great, we still need to find the right swimsuit to fit our unique body shapes. Most of us are not shaped like the models in the swimsuits magazines, so we need to know what swimsuits will flatter our individual curves.

If you have curves, don’t be ashamed of showing them! Highlight those sexy curves by accentuating your top and your bottom. The best way to do that is to either wear a halter top with a belted bikini bottom or a wrap style one-piece suit with high-cut leg holes to elongate those stems.
Women who have a heavier bottom should really wear a suit that brings more attention to their neckline or bust in order to take away some of the focus at the rear. To achieve this, opt for dark matte colors on the bottom and brighter patterns on top. A fuller bottom, such as, boy shorts are great for heavy bottoms because they provide more coverage and more confidence. To balance out the figure, try wearing a strapless one-piece suit or an empire waist. For the women who need just a little more coverage, try a suit with a skirt, but make sure it is not too bulky because that will bring more attention to your bottom half.
Having a smaller chest can easily be enhanced by wearing certain types of swimsuits to give the illusion of having more than you may have. Try wearing a suit with ruffles on the neckline or bright patterns to bring attention to the bust. You can also wear suits with built in bras with small padding to enhance your bust.
When you are petite like Kate Hudson, you really want to wear something tiny to fit such a small frame. String bikinis are usually a great match for a smaller build because they fit the body just right. They look sexy but are not over the top since this body type fits so well with a smaller suit.
For the women out there who have a little extra tummy bulge, there are swimsuits that can help you. Stick with a one-piece that is high belted to draw the attention on your neckline and chest. You will be able to elongate the figure by creating a fascinating neckline and by working with vertical lines. If you opt for a two-piece, wear a halter bikini top that offers some coverage.
If you are a woman who has more of a boyish figure or is just extremely athletic, then you want to try to get a suit that offers some femininity. Ruffles can add a flirty and girly feel to a suit and ruching can add some shape to the figure. If you need more coverage try wearing a fuller bottom, such as a boy short.
Full figured women are usually very curvy, (like bootylicious Beyonce), so they need ample support to flatter and hold them in. A streamlined suit does this most effectively because it really supports the body. Women with a lot of curves should also choose a suit that offers details, such as small patterns or piping along the sides or waist of the suit. For women that want added coverage, try a swim dress. It is sexy but offers coverage to make you feel most comfortable.
For the women who are top heavy, you want a one-piece that is sophisticated and classy with built in support. For a two-piece, get a suit with built in cups and underwire support along with wider straps for added hold. If you have broader shoulders, wear a scoop neck or v-neck; otherwise wear a halter style neckline. Put attention on the bottom as well with brighter colors there and darker on top or opt for ruffles or shirring.
If you are like Cameron Diaz, you are tall and thin. To accentuate your body, wear colorful and embellished swimsuits. You are blessed with a slim physique, so why not show it off? Tune up your swim style by wearing a vibrant color bikini or a fun patterned one-piece. You can also wear a one-piece momokini and look fabulous!
Swimsuit season doesn’t have to cause anxiety. Just pick the suit that fits your body shape the best, and you will feel comfortable and confident. A few things to remember: when you are trying to slim down certain areas on your body, choose a suit with dark colors and matte fabrics, and a halter top always flatters a woman best, especially if she wants to show off her toned arms and shoulders. So enjoy the summer and buy yourself a suit that you will feel your best in. You deserve it!
