About Slumdog Millionaire:Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is a street kid (or "slumdog") who has landed an appearance on India's version of the hit TV game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”. Jamal exceeds expectations on the show, and the producers alert the police after they become suspicious of his methods. The young contestant is subsequently arrested and is interrogated at the hands of a nameless police inspector (played by Bollywood star Irfan Khan). As the interrogation proceeds, we learn Jamal's story through harrowing flashbacks that show the terrible poverty of Mumbai, explain how he knows the answers to the questions, and the girl (Freida Pinto) he fell in love with. Critics, audiences, and the film industry itself, are all raving at the masterpiece that is Slumdog Millionaire. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and took home 8 of those awards, including best directing, best screenplay, and best film of the year.
