5 Simple Beauty Boosters to Help You Feel Effortlessly Fabulous!
Baring your bikini body at the beach isn’t the only way to be fabulous when the weather gets warm. Style guru Bobbie Thomas shares with DivaVillage her personal tips and tricks for looking and feeling great – all summer long! Bobbie is the Style Editor for NBC's TodayShow and co-host of the Style Network's Fashion Police, and when this gorgeous red carpet expert talks, we listen! Here, Bobbie tells us how to be fabulous and shares her personal picks for summer:
1. GET A BRIGHT BOOST WITH NEON NAIL POLISH
“Bold, neon nails are hot with celebs like Beyonce and Rihanna, and are a fast and inexpensive way to add an exciting pop of color this summer,” says Bobbie. Bobbie recommends CoverGirl Boundless Color Nail Polish in Candy Corn, a bright orange hue that adds a burst of summer sun to your everyday look.
2. UPGRADE YOUR RAZOR
Bobbie tells us, “Keeping legs smooth and stubble-free is my number one way to stay confident year round. I shave everyday with a razor that has five blades – when I tried it, I was immediately hooked and could not believe the difference. My new razor also has a Protective Ribbon of Moisture for a super smooth shave. Upgrading your razor will make you feel sexy in summer's leg-baring outfits. In addition to all the other great features, shaving with a razor is a good exfoliator for sunless tanning.” Bobbie's favorite razor is Venus Embrace, which has blades that individually adjust to ensure a close shave around hard-to-reach areas like knees and ankles. 3. ENHANCE YOUR EYES WITH FALSE EYELASHES
“Believe it or not, applying false eyelashes is the best way to cut back on your makeup this summer. Falsies will define your eyes in one step, so you can leave the eyeliner at home,” says Bobbie. Her tip: “Pick up an inexpensive pair at the drugstore. Snip one lash in half and apply the pieces to the outer corner of each eye for instant glamour.” Bobbie recommends Ardell Fashion Lashes #124.
4. TRY A NEW FRAGRANCE
“One of the quickest and easiest ways to feel fab in the summer is by switching your fragrance for a light, refreshing scent,” Bobbie says, and reminds us, “Fragrance smells different on everyone, so try out several scents before choosing the one that's right for you.” Bobbie recommends Sarah Horowitz Perfect Veil, which smells like clean skin when worn alone, and can also be layered with other fragrances. This portable fragrance can is available in roll-on form, body cream, or as a traditional spray.
5. DOUBLE DUTY TRENDS
Lightweight scarves add a fashionable kick to any outfit for summer. Scarves can be worn in a variety of ways, which make them versatile pieces for day and night. Bobbie explains, “A light scarf is a fashionable way to protect your skin and is a great way to add a pop of color to your outfit in place of an accessory.” Another great item to add to your summer shopping list is a pair of embellished sandals. “A little sparkle on your shoes can bring you from day to night, and from the beach to dinner and dancing,” says Bobbie.
