Common symptoms from the carcinogens present in dry-cleaned clothing include dizziness, headaches, and fatigue. All of these symptoms are linked to the contaminants found in many dry cleaning materials and equipment.

If we have to skip the dry cleaner, how do we clean up clothes with the “Dry Clean Only” label? Here are some tips on keeping your favorite clothing clean without damaging your health:

1. TRY HAND WASHING AT HOME

Even when the label says “Dry Clean Only,” you can get away with a light hand washing to remove small stains with ease. Try lighter cleaning chemicals designed for sensitive skin to avoid damaging your clothing, and hang up the pieces to air dry naturally. A mild soap also works well.

2. HEAD TO THE WET CLEANERS

3. TRY A GREEN CLEAN AT HOME

Make use of today’s green and organic cleaning products to keep your clothes in tip-top shape. 7. USE SPRAY STARCH TO FRESHEN UP CLOTHING

If you want to avoid washing and cleaning altogether, you can still freshen up a piece of clothing with spray starch and an iron. Just spray a shirt or dress with the formula and press it for a clean and fresh look.
