Complete your Look for Prom with the Perfect Makeup!
A portion of your prom look is the makeup you wear. Who are we kidding? A large portion of your prom look is the makeup you wear! This is exactly why you should take some time prior to the big day to think about what look you want to convey with your prom night makeup. Would you prefer a smoky, sultry style to complement your dark dress, or perhaps something light and pretty to match your springtime style? Here are some night-out makeup ideas to help with your decision:
Smoky and Sultry Prom Night Makeup
For an alluring makeup look, you’ve got to go with smoky eyes!
Start with an eye shadow primer to keep your sultry look from sliding around all night.
Smudge dark eyeliner on both the top and bottom lash lines.
Using a smoky color like gray or black, slowly add color onto your lid, working it up to the brow bone. Be sure and blend the color out well.
Finish with a lighter color just below the brow bone to make your eyes pop.
Keep the rest of your makeup subtle, using a neutral lip color and light blush to keep the attention on your eyes. Although sultry looking, it can easily be overdone to make you look like a raccoon, so remember that you can easily add color, but it is much more difficult to take away.
Glitzy and Glam Prom Night Makeup
If you want to sparkle at this year’s prom, then a glitzy and glam makeup style is for you.
Go light on your powder and only powder your t-zone, which is the oiliest part of the face.
Apply a blush or bronzer on your cheekbones that has subtle shimmer.
Now it’s time for the eyes; you can play up your eyes with shimmer and glitter as much or as little as you’d like for this look. Pick your favorite color or one that matches your dress, and go wild. Just keep the majority of your sparkle on your eyelid so you look glitzy and not gaudy.
Light and Pretty Prom Night Makeup
For the prom-goers who want to be the classic “belle of the ball,” light and pretty makeup will suit you perfectly.
For this light and pretty look, start with a tinted moisturizer (you can make your own by mixing ½ moisturizer and ½ foundation and applying with a sponge).
To keep shiny skin at bay, apply a light dusting of translucent powder all over your face down to your décolletage.
For the eyes, keep things sweet and subtle by using an eye shadow that is just a shade lighter than your skin tone, but that has subtle shimmer.
A few coats of mascara and a bit of lip gloss are all you need to finish this look, and then you are ready for your prom night out! Remember that keeping your makeup simple will let your natural beauty shine through.
Hopefully these makeup styles sparked something in you and your prom night makeup routine will be a cinch!
