There’s nothing like a little nail polish to liven up your look in an instant. Spring brings pretty pinks and classy coral shades, and this time around we even have some darker colors rocking the collections! Toes are a place where you can wear colors that might be a bit much for your hands, so be sure to try out neon hues and other fun things like nail art and tiny rhinestones to give your feet a unique look. Here are some of my top picks from the 2008 spring/summer nail polish collections:
Top Picks for Spring Nails
Napoleon Perdis Chandelier Shine
Meet my new nail polish fave! Tiffany and Cupi Doll have stolen my heart and I simply adore the high gloss that this formula gives, even sans top coat. Now, I am certainly not suggesting you skip applying a top coat, but if you are in a hurry for a night on the town, you can slap on a coat of this and put on your top coat the next day.
Zoya Nocti NanoBrites Collection
These colors take me back to my younger days when neon was all the rage for accessories and nail colors. I love Kiss & Tell and Bikini for toes. If you’re bold, try a colorful pop of these shades on your fingertips.
OPI India Collection
This beautiful nail color collection features a variety of exotic shades. Keys to My Karma is an awesome red for fingers or toes. I am fond of wearing red on my fingernails in warm weather, as it is a bit unexpected. Another big winner is Elephantastic Pink, a bright, bubble gum shade perfect for your sunny vacation or just for every day life in the fast lane.
Essie Spring Collection 2008
Essie is synonymous with classy colors. Secret Affair is a slightly shimmery taupe shade that I could wear all year long, it’s so fantastic. I’ve also taken a liking to Looking for Love, a sheer lavender that is anything but run of the mill. The sheerness of the formula makes this very, very wearable, even in an office type situation.
Chanel Spring 2008 Makeup Collection
The Chanel nail lacquers for spring 2008 include Blue Satin, White Satin, and the elusive Azur, one shade that I can’t seem to get my hands on. Blue Satin is a dark, almost black looking blue. This shade is superb if you are a fan of blue nail polish. I’ve seen pictures of many young celebs rocking the stark white nail color look, although I’m not a fan. I swoon at the pics of Azur, a soft, slightly iridescent blue.
I am a big fan of nail polish and I get excited every time the seasons change and the new colors hit the shelves. Our nails are such an easy way to show our love of beauty products and show off our personalities. Nail polish has come a long way in recent years and many brands no longer contain formaldehyde or toluene, so you can easily wear polish now if you’ve had trouble with any of these ingredients in the past. Go out and get a new bottle of nail polish this spirng; insist that one or more of your friends do the same, then trade in a few weeks and share the nail polish love!
