The first episode of Laguna Beach aired in 2004, and ever since then we’ve been hooked on this young woman with the roller-coaster love life. The look inside the lives of Orange County’s privileged teens showed closets that were unlike those that had ever been showcased before. Lauren Conrad made swimsuits into everyday fashion statements, and high school dances became extravagant affairs. After her first year as MTV’s breakout reality star, Lauren said, “I’ve loved MTV as long as I’ve been allowed to watch it as a young kid. It turned out to be such a cool experience. It wasn’t until Lauren moved to The Hills and began attending Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising that her red carpet status began to soar. We would sew and make clothes for my Barbie Doll. Ever since then I’ve loved high fashion and designing.” Her internship at Teen Vogue has been chronicled and watched by most with an avid eye on the business side of fashion.
