Rihanna's Transition - "Good Girl Gone Bad"

It is so hard to be a teenage R&B princess, having to confine to the industry's stereotypes and rules. Up-and-coming R&B star Rihanna is one saucy singer from Barbados who knows how to work her talent and sex appeal side by side, and still remain successful while going her own route. She's got great hits (especially her latest, "Umbrella"), a unique - yet incredible voice, and an adorable physique - it's no wonder we love Rihanna so much!

With the release of her new album "Good Girl Gone Bad," Rihanna is letting people know that she wants to break out of the innocent, “goody-goody” girl she's been typecast as ever since first breaking into the music scene. At 19, she is ready to move into the role of being a woman instead of a teenager; but, she has promised her fans that while in her transition phase, she will not strip down to her skivvies to get the adult attention she wants, deserves, and needs. Rihanna has assured fans that her changeover will be tasteful, while still allowing her to grow out of her younger persona into something new and mature.

Sprouting from Rihanna's desire to change her image, her new album, “Good Girl Gone Bad,” is a stepping stone to her goal of maturation. The album was released earlier in June 2007, and features the likes of Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Stargate, and Timbaland. The title of her album left the media asking what exactly Rihanna meant by the term "bad" (assuming, of course, the worst). But Rihanna has explained numerous times in interviews that the word “bad” in her album title is a representation of a little rebellion, as she breaks out of her shell and takes risks in her own life and career.  We can probably all agree that everyone needs a little rebellion every once in a while!

It seems that with her continued success as Rihanna re-establishes herself in her changing music career, things will continue to work in her favor.  We look forward to more hits from Rihanna on the red carpet and in the music industry!
